This is the amount of data you are allowed to deliver from your website in a given month. The limit is usually calculated in GB with 1 GB usually amounting to 30,000 - 50,000 page views.
This is short for Electronic Commerce, and is a general term used to describe all forms of trade on the Internet, especially those where payment is taken via the Web.
A popular authoring software developed by Macromedia (Now owned by Adobe), is used to create vector graphics-based animations with full-screen navigation interfaces, graphic illustrations, and simple interactivity in a resizable file format that is small enough to stream across a normal modem connection.
A website's main page. It contains the table of contents and links pointing to other pages. Generally, the home page file is called index.php or index.htm.
Hosting (also known as web site hosting, web hosting, and webhosting) is the business of housing, providing a server, and maintaining files for one or more websites.
HyperText Markup Language (html), is a language in which website pages are written.
Also known as Hyperlink or Web Link describes a link, graphic or text string which, when clicked, opens a new web page or jumps to a new location in the current page.
Internet Service Provider. A company that provides an Internet connection.
To achieve a high search engine placement for a relevant search, a website must contain the appropriate positioning and density of keywords or phrases related to the search terms used. This is a critical part of the search engine optimisation for any website.
Link Popularity refers to the number of sites that link to your web pages from various search engines such as Google, MSN, Yahoo, etc. Many search engines use Link Popularity as a factor for determining page rank.
The group of page definitions coded into a website - the most important from an SEO point of view being the TITLE, DESCRIPTION and KEYWORDS tags.
Devised by Google, it measures not only how many links point to a website, but the "quality" of the websites providing the links.
The term SEO is used to describe the marketing technique of preparing a website to enhance its chances of being ranked in the top results of a search engine once a relevant search is undertaken. A number of factors are important when optimising a website, including the content and structure of the website's copy and page layout, the HTML meta-tags and the submission process.
A sitemap is a collection of hyperlinks that outlines a website's structure. Search Engines use these to index the whole website correctly.
Website Maintenance is generally used to describe the up keep of a website. It could involve updating images, text, links etc.
Website statistics software is used to track the number of visitors to a website. Includes information such as hits, page views, which browser and operating systems visitors use, and other useful information.
